This role will focus on HVAC system design, energy efficiency solutions, retrofit projects, commissioning support, and building performance improvement initiatives. Working closely with the senior engineering team, the successful candidate will contribute to projects from initial concept through to final handover, supporting clients in reducing operational energy consumption and carbon emissions.

The position offers a combination of office-based design work and on-site engineering involvement, providing excellent exposure to HVAC systems, BMS integration, commissioning activities, and modern sustainable building technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of HVAC and mechanical building services systems across retrofit and new-build projects

  • Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases for HVAC and energy efficiency projects

  • Produce technical drawings, layouts, and project documentation using AutoCAD and Revit software

  • Prepare bills of materials, technical specifications, schedules, and supporting engineering documentation

  • Participate in commissioning, testing, balancing, and system start-up activities to ensure successful project delivery

  • Carry out site visits and building surveys to assess existing installations and identify improvement opportunities

  • Support energy surveys, system analysis, and energy performance reporting for client facilities

  • Work collaboratively with internal engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders

  • Assist with project scheduling, coordination, and budget tracking to support efficient project execution

  • Investigate and help resolve on-site technical issues through root cause analysis and engineering support

  • Research emerging HVAC technologies, energy-saving products, and sustainable engineering solutions relevant to business and client requirements

  • Maintain compliance with company procedures, health & safety standards, and project quality requirements

  • Represent the company professionally during client interactions, site meetings, and project coordination activities

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in HVAC design, sustainable engineering, and energy-efficient building services solutions.

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred

  • Understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics, refrigeration, and fluid dynamics

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and technical drawing principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a project team

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage both office-based design responsibilities and on-site engineering activities

  • Client-focused and solution-oriented approach to engineering delivery

  • Strong technical problem-solving capabilities and willingness to learn

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using Revit and 3D modelling software

  • Exposure to commissioning, balancing, and BMS systems

  • Knowledge of building energy performance and sustainability principles

  • Experience within HVAC retrofit or energy efficiency projects
