Hyreus is recruiting an experienced Senior Bid Writer to join an established and highly regarded construction and infrastructure business based in Paddington. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled bid professional to play a key role within a high-performing Work Winning team, supporting the preparation and delivery of high-quality PQQ and tender submissions for major and complex construction projects.

The Senior Bid Writer will take ownership of developing compelling, client-focused written responses that clearly communicate the organisation’s technical and commercial solutions. Working closely with Bid Managers, Business Development Managers, subject matter experts and wider project teams, you will help shape submission strategies, develop persuasive narratives and ensure bid documents are produced to a consistently high standard. The role requires excellent written communication, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple submissions within demanding deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and production of high-quality written responses for PQQs, tenders and other work-winning submissions.

  • Develop clear, compelling and client-focused narratives that respond directly to tender requirements.

  • Work closely with Bid Managers, Business Development Managers and senior stakeholders throughout the bid process.

  • Review tender and PQQ requirements and ensure responses are compliant, accurate and aligned with client expectations.

  • Take ownership of key written sections and coordinate contributions from subject matter experts and project teams.

  • Facilitate and contribute to storyboarding sessions, workshops, kick-off meetings and progress meetings.

  • Challenge and develop first drafts to ensure responses fully address the client’s requirements and demonstrate clear value.

  • Edit, proofread and refine submission documents to ensure consistently high standards of written English, presentation and formatting.

  • Develop and incorporate case studies, project experience, references, CVs and supporting evidence.

  • Identify and re-work existing content where appropriate, ensuring information remains relevant and tailored to the opportunity.

  • Support the development of graphics, flow charts, diagrams, organisation charts and other visual content to strengthen submissions.

  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback to contributors throughout the bid process.

  • Ensure compliance with Work Winning processes, procedures and document management requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of submissions and supporting information for future review and knowledge sharing.

  • Contribute to the final publication and timely submission of tender documentation.

  • Support knowledge management and the development of reusable bid content and project evidence.

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the organisation’s projects, capabilities and technical solutions to strengthen written responses.

  • Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with third parties to gather accurate and relevant information.

  • Manage multiple bids and competing deadlines within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Senior Bid Writer, Bid Writer, Proposal Writer or similar role within a construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or built environment organisation.

  • Demonstrable experience producing successful PQQ and tender submissions.

  • Excellent written English with a strong ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely and persuasively.

  • Strong knowledge of the construction and built environment sector, with civil engineering experience highly advantageous.

  • Previous experience working through the full bidding process and producing high-quality submission documents.

  • Strong editing, proofreading and document-formatting skills.

  • Experience developing client-focused responses for demanding and competitive tender opportunities.

  • Confident working with technical subject matter experts and translating technical information into compelling written content.

  • Creative approach to bid writing, including the effective use of graphics, active headings, images and action captions.

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills and strong proficiency across Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software would be advantageous.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders, clients and third parties.

  • Proactive and able to use initiative, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve submissions.

  • Degree educated or equivalent relevant experience.

  • A strong understanding of health and safety, business systems and the construction market would be beneficial.
