​John moved into recruitment following a short spell after school within the construction sector working within Site Engineering and Quantity Surveying in Construction. ​After moving into recruitment during the recession he initially started of as a Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering biased recruiter focussing on local authority and consultancy clients throughout Scotland. As this market slowed down he started to specialise in much more niche areas in the Oil & Gas sector, where he focussed on FEA Engineers, CFD Engineers, Structural Engineers and Naval Architects.Now, eighteen years later and a Chartered MCIPD HR professional he has worked across a variety of sectors both externally as a recruiter. And internally as HRBP managing all HR and Recruitment for a business that worked across Civil Engineering, Building and Power Solutions. This actually used to be one of our clients!Before joining Hyreus he spent a year with a private equity backed tech start up sourcing niche high volume staff for the Telecoms sector slashing recruitment start up costs, whilst also working with the human resource team to set up an effective applicant tracking system. The company forecasted that they would save over £500k in recruitment costs in year one! Now working with Hyreus his time is spent recruiting and prioritising our workload.Outside of work John focusses on family life with his Wife and Daughter and considers himself to have been a greenkeeper in another life!
