We are currently recruiting Health and Safety Manager to oversee our clients HSQE team in Glasgow on behalf of our client who are a business operating throughout the UK.
Responsibilities
Ensure the company complies with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
Monitor changes in laws and best practices, advising senior management on implications and required updates to company policies.
Develop, review, and maintain HSE management systems, policies, and procedures to reflect current requirements.
Identify potential hazards across operational activities through inspections, audits, and employee feedback.
Conduct thorough risk assessments, documenting findings and implementing appropriate control measures.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk controls, making adjustments where necessary.
Champion proactive safety measures to prevent accidents, incidents, and occupational ill-health.
Assess training needs and develop tailored HSE training programmes for employees at all levels.
Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher sessions to maintain awareness of safety practices.
Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Encourage reporting of hazards, unsafe behaviours, and near-misses, fostering a “no blame” culture.
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and contributory factors.
Prepare comprehensive investigation reports with practical recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure lessons learned are shared across the organisation and embedded into future operations.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, audits, and compliance checks, providing regular reports to management.
Work closely with operational teams, supervisors, and managers to integrate HSE into everyday activities.
Benchmark company performance against industry best practice and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support sustainability and environmental objectives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
Represent the company in external audits, inspections, and liaise with regulatory bodies where required.
The Candidate
Experience working in a multi-site maintenance environment
Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) card, desirable but not essential as training will be give
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn to use specialist software
A broad range of building and communication skills, along with sound commercial awareness
